April really started with one of the most spectacular sights I have ever witnessed. Living in the town of Burlington, Vermont, there was constant chatter about the solar eclipse for many months prior. I don’t think most of us in the town knew what to expect crowd-wise, but also what being the presence of a monumental, celestial event would even feel like.
Even weeks later, I still can’t quite grasp what I saw. I know that it made me feel overwhelmed with wonder, curiosity about existence itself, but also simply happy. Those three minutes I looked at the totality, I couldn’t help but smile. Quick gazes at the folks around me also letting out huge gasps, grins, cheering—all of it. It felt remarkable to witness the positivity radiating out of people for that afternoon. I wish I could find more to say, I still think about the diamond ring around the moon every day since.
Coming down from the solar eclipse has landed me in a state of excitement for warmth, spring, flowers, COLOR. Seeing the green come up in my tiny garden bed gives me a nice reminder of what’s on the way. I think pictures best describe the vibe of April so far. The oat milk lattes are taking over my life and I’m all about it.
