February is my least favorite month of the year; it always has been—it always will be. The dreariness looms over me day after day; I can tell that my body craves any ounce of sunlight that peaks through. There’s so much I love about winter—the silence, the snow (if we get any), XC skiing, warming up with tea after a cold walk—but some days I wish spring would hurry up already. It’s an interesting balance to say the least—can’t wait for winter to get here, and definitely can’t wait for it to end! The Libra in me tries to find balance among everything, it’s only natural.
I’ve been prioritizing spending time outside before the sun goes down, and actively trying to embrace and recognize this time of the year as just part of the natural cycle of seasons. I’m able to stand amongst all of the leafless trees and let the silence fill me with solitude. I love hearing absolutely nothing. My mind becomes instantly clearer, and what a lovely feeling that is! We forget how much sound enters our eardrums each day that we become desensitized to the background noise. Luckily I’m surrounded by a few good spots to really remove myself from it all. I’m not sure what I would do if I wasn’t able to access places like this.
Lately I’ve been noticing interesting synchronicities pertaining to moments of deep thought, and then seeing numerological sequencings involving 1’s. The number 1, or 11, have entered my life repeatedly as signs for a fairly long time, at least within the last ten years or so (and not the “it’s 11:11 make a wish!” signs hah). Humans naturally love to find patterns in things, so there is a level of heightened awareness to these numbers for me. But I’m never actively looking, and it usually happens when I’m in a meditative state, or searching for clarity within my life. The universe speaks in numbers!
